After leaving school with very few qualifications and some challenging life experiences, Olly was thrown a lifeline age 21 and offered a job as a Police Officer in Devon and Cornwall. He never looked back and had an exceptional career which saw him receive no less than nine commendations including two Chief Constable’s Commendations and an Assistant Chief Constable’s Commendation. These commendations were for a wide variety of work including:
- Courage, Professionalism and Leadership
- Outstanding Bravery
- Professionalism and Investigative Skills
- Initiative, Dedication and Commitment
- Innovative and Consistent Good Work
- Outstanding Leadership, Professionalism and Dedication
- Longstanding Professionalism and Commitment in a Specialist Voluntary Role
If this wasn’t enough Olly was awarded a Queen’s Police Medal (QPM) in the 2014 New Years Honours List. This is the highest award in Policing and is only awarded nationally a handful of times each year for distinguished and exceptional service.
Since retiring Olly has returned to the world of road safety, working with FirstCar Ltd to head up the award winning young driver campaign The Honest Truth working with road safety partnerships and driving instructors across the United Kingdom to help make young drivers as safe as possible long after they pass their driving test.
Olly is also a freelance trainer for PDT Fleet Solutions delivering road safety education in the fleet world as well as developing road safety campaigns to support road safety delivery within their business.
